The Beaver Meadow Veterinary Clinic is located in the heart of Barneveld, NY, just north of Utica and at the base of the Adirondacks. Our goal is to provide quality care and service to our clients and their animal family members, while maintaining a hometown atmosphere. We strive to enrich the lives of our clients and their pets by continually educating our staff and clients. With a dedicated, enthusiastic team, we serve our clients, their pets and our community.
Meet Our Team
Diana M. Ostrander, D.V.M.
Dr. Diana grew up in Yorkville, NY and graduated from New York Mills High School in 2000. In 2004 she received a Bachelors of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from St. Lawrence University. She then returned to her hometown to continue working as a zookeeper for the Utica Zoo, which she had done during her summer vacations throughout undergrad. Later in 2004, Dr. Diana decided to expand her small animal experience and went on to join a small animal practice in Colonie, NY as a Veterinary assistant/kennel manager. In 2006, she was accepted into the Cornell University Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program where her focus was small mammals/exotics as well as dogs and cats. As of March 2012, Dr. Diana became the new owner of the Beaver Meadow Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Diana’s hobbies include running with her dogs, fishing, cycling, hiking, camping and snowmobiling. Her all time favorite thing is watching Syracuse Basketball and Football! GO ‘CUSE!!! She shares her home with her husband “Farmer” Adam, her daughter Juniper, son Buckley, daughter Daisy Mae, Cairn Terrier, (Bouie), 2 Labrador Retrievers (Mac and Ronnie) 3 cats (Tundra, Taiga and Sparky), horse(Dolly), miniature donkeys (Clive, Claire & Julianna), goats (Stanley, Blanche, Dorothy & Rose), cows (Butters & Patsy), pigs, chickens and ducks!
Ellen Hilton, D.V.M
Dr. Hilton is originally from Amherst, Massachusetts where she attended the University of Massachusetts for her undergraduate degree. She graduated from the Wisconsin School Of Veterinary Medicine in 1991 but now calls Utica home! She and her husband, Tom, have found it a wonderful place to raise their two daughters, Margaret and Mia. The family currently shares their house with three dogs and two cats. and recently have begun keeping chickens, which they really enjoy. Dr. Hilton is also the staff veterinarian for the Utica Zoo, where she applies all her experience working with her patients as well as some extra study and creativity in order to take care of a fascinating variety of animals. With any free time she can manage, she enjoys camping, cross country skiing, hiking and travel.
Lucia Roberts, D.V.M
Dr. Roberts began her pathway in veterinary medicine with an Associate Degree from SUNY Delhi as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. She then went on for a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University majoring in Animal Science. After working for a non-profit agency in Arkansas, she returned to Cornell University to earn her Doctorate Degree in Veterinary Medicine. Furthering her education she became certified by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. She worked at two small animal clinics, a non-profit spay/neuter clinic and opened her own clinic in Lowville NY. When her children grew up and moved away, she came to this area in 2015 with her husband and pets to be closer to her family. Dr. Roberts practices Integrative Medicine, using both conventional and complementary/holistic medicine. This includes acupuncture, nutritional, herbal, and other natural therapies. Dr. Roberts enjoys God’s creation outdoors while walking the dogs, biking, kayaking, gardening, cross country skiing, and visiting with family and friends.
Katelyn Miller, D.V.M
Dr. Katelyn Miller grew up in Fredonia, NY. Her love for animals stemmed at an early age while growing up on a horse farm. Her childhood was spent caring for a variety of animals including pigs, rabbits, goats, sheep, cows, and horses. Since the age of 11, Dr. Katelyn knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. Following highschool, Dr. Katelyn attended Suny Fredonia and majored in biology. During her undergraduate studies she assisted in a research program studying the population of little brown bats affected by white nose syndrome. After graduating from Suny Fredonia in 2010 she then attended the University of Missouri where she obtained her doctor of veterinary medicine degree. Throughout her 4 years in veterinary school she devoted her time to working in both companion animal ICU and Equine ICU departments. Since graduating in 2014 as a veterinarian, Dr. Katelyn has practiced in both small animal private clinical settings and emergency referral hospitals, where she was an emergency veterinarian for one of Kansas City’s biggest small animal emergency hospitals. In 2016 Dr. Katelyn became a full time public health veterinarian working for the United States Department of Agriculture. She provides survelliance of foreign animal diseases, the humane treatment of livestock, and ensures the publics food supply is safe before reaching the consumer. In February of 2018 Dr. Katelyn joined Beaver Meadow Veterinarian Clinic, where she currently works part time. Her practicing interests include internal medicine of companion animals and preventative medicine.
When she is not at work, Dr. Katelyn enjoys lifting weights, caring for her 3 holland lop rabbits, 2 cats, trailriding her horses, hiking the adirondak traiIs, mud runs, paddleboarding, and many other outdoor activities.
Katie Batson, LVT
Katie has been working as a licensed veterinary technician in the area since receiving her Associates degree from SUNY Delhi in 1989. She began her career working with Dr. DuBiel at Trenton Animal Hospital until his retirement in 2013. Shortly after she joined our team. While not at work, Katie enjoys watching her children participate in sports and spending time with her animals- especially kayaking with her dog Sadie.
Angie Cushman, LVT
Angie started working as a veterinary technician in Orlando, Florida in 1998. She began her career at Beaver Meadow in 2014. Angie loves spending time with her family and fur kids, including one of our clinic cats, Ravioli, who now has his forever home.
Mike Graziadei, LVT
Mike began working as a licensed veterinary technician in 1997. He is a graduate from MVCC and SUNY Delhi. He grew up in the area his entire life, graduating from Sauquoit Valley High School. He enjoys spending time with his family and pets and is an avid fisherman.
Kimberly Rockwell, Receptionist
Kim has been with us since 2014, originally working as an animal caretaker and currently working in Reception. If she’s not here kissing on all the animals you can find her outside fishing, hiking and camping. Kim enjoys all time spent with her family and friends, including her kitty Sox.
Erica Anderson, Receptionist
Erica started at Beaver Meadow as a Receptionist in 2015, after graduating from Herkimer Community College with an Associated degree in Liberal Arts. She enjoys her time spent with family, friends and her two kitties; Babette and Nala.
